'American Horror Story: Freak Show' Spoilers, Cast Members Return With Some a Few New Characters

The fourth season of the horror television series is set to premier this October on FX. The show is coming in with a new theme in mind: Freak Show. The show's producer, Ryan Murphy, released a number of details regarding the content of the upcoming fourth season. New characters, cast members, and a different setting are all expected in season 4.

Season 4 of "American Horror Story" will be set in the 1950s in Jupiter, Florida. Murphy confirmed it during an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"It's set in 1950. If you look historically at what happened in the year 1950 – there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece," Murphy said.

Season 4 will also see the return of Jessica Lange playing as a German expatriate who manages one of the last remaining freak shows in Jupiter.

Murphy had said in the interview that they are trying to do the opposite of what they've done before. He even says that Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent. Other actors making the return are Kathy Bates, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, and Frances Conroy. The listed actors are to play performers whom Lange has rescued.

Aside from returning cast members and characters, the next season will also be seeing the introduction of new characters. Murphy revealed during the interview that Michael Chiklis will be joining the cast, playing as the father of Peter's character.

Wes Bentley will be appearing sometime in season four as the "tormenter" most probably during the two-part Halloween episode. Lastly, John Carroll Lynch will be playing the main bad guy in season four.
