'American Horror Story' Season 4 Spoilers: Carnival Set Revealed

"American Horror Story" recently wrapped its third season on FX, but fans are already anxious to learn what the next season of the thrilling television series has in store for them.

Reports indicated that "AHS" season four would be set at a carnival earlier this year, but now, that plot has been confirmed. Writer and co-executive producer Douglas Petrie discussed season four on the "Nerdist Writers Panel" podcast where he revealed that work had "just started" on the upcoming episodes.

When asked about the Carnival setting, Petrie replied, "That's the idea, very roughly that's the idea," according to ContactMusic.com. However, a title for the fourth season of "AHS" has not yet been decided upon.

As for the rest of the details surrounding "AHS," is was previously confirmed that the fourth season will be veteran actress Jessica Lange's last. While the actress has received numerous accolades including a Golden Globe Award for her work on "AHS," all before a storied career in Hollywood, the 64-year-old actress is retiring from acting altogether.

"I am coming to the end of acting," Lange told the Los Angeles Times last year. "I have a list: another stage production, maybe one or two more movies, one more season of 'American Horror Story,' and then that is it for me. Because I think that's enough. I want to go out with a bang… or should I say, a scare?"

Lange's career was re-ignited with her leading role on "AHS," where she plays a new character each season. The show's creator Ryan Murphy promised fans that Lange will "have this great [juicy] part" before her departure.

Murphy also revealed that "AHS" season four will take place in the 1950s, but very few additional details are known at this time. Fortunately, "AHS" show runners and cast members are due at PaleyFest on March 28 where more information is expected to be revealed, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Meanwhile, the "carnival" theme will follow previous "AHS" seasons that include "Murder House," "Asylum" and "Coven." The fourth season is set to debut on FX in October.
