Amy Winehouse Wedding Dress Stolen: 'Sickening,' Says Singer's Father

Two dresses belonging to the late singer Amy Winehouse- including her wedding gown- were stolen on Thursday, according to her family's charitable foundation.

The dresses were intended to sell at auction later this year and next in London and New York to raise money for The Amy Winehouse Foundation, which funds children's hospices and drug counseling centers.

Among the British singer's dresses was the gown worn during her Miami wedding to Blake Fielder-Civil on 2007. The second item stolen was a newsprint cocktail dress which Winehouse had worn on British television. Both were stolen from a cupboard in her London home shortly after they had been organized during an inventory.

Although the house was not broken into, the foundation said that a formal report to police was forthcoming.

The singer's father, Mitch Winehouse, said he was "baffled" by the incident, calling it "sickening that someone would steal something in the knowledge of its sentimental value" while speaking to The Evening Standard.

"It's got to be someone with access to the house," a spokesperson for the foundation told The Chicago Tribune.

Fielder-Civil in Winehouse were married for two years and had violent fights amid reports of heavy drug use. They divorced in 2009.

Winehouse was found dead in her home at the age of 27 in July 2011. It was later determined that her death was caused by accidental alcohol poisoning, as there were no illicit drugs in her system.

Mitch Winehouse and other members of her family maintained that the singer had beat her drug addiction three years before her death.

The "Back to Black" singer was well known for her party girl persona as well as her distinct and impressive voice. Winehouse earned many awards over the course of her career, including a Brit Award, the Mercury Prize, and three Ivor Novello Awards. Moreover, she became the first British female artist to win five Grammy Awards.

In August, Fielder-Civil was put on life support in a British hospital after an apparent alcohol and drug binge.
