Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich Coming to the HTC One X

The HTC One X will receive an update for Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich, the latest build of Google's famed software in the near future.

The update is said to increase the gaming performance on the device.

This will be the second software upgrade for smartphone since its initial launch.

The first of these was meant to correct an issue users of the device were having with Wi-Fi connectivity. Even after the software update was issued the problem still was not corrected.

HTC Europe acknowledged the Wi-Fi issue earlier this week and issued a statement.

"After investigating isolated reports of Wi-Fi connectivity issues in the HTC One X, we have identified a fix that strengthens the area of the phone around the Wi-Fi antennae connection points," said HTC.

"While many customers have not experienced any problems with signal strength, we have taken immediate steps to implement a solution in our production process to prevent this issue from happening in the future," HTC continued. "HTC is committed to making sure every customer has a great experience and we apologize for any inconvenience this issue may have caused while we conducted a thorough investigation."

Owners of the HTC One X and HTC itself both discovered that the issue with the Wi-Fi connection is not related to software. Some users of the device have been able to correct the problem by squeezing the smartphone in a specific area. HTC will most likely find a way to fix the issue by tightening up that same area.

Specifications on the One X include a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, a 4.7-inch Super LCD display with 1280 x 720 pixels, an 8-megapixel camera that includes an ImageChip that kicks up picture processing. It is also a 4G LTE device and features Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich.
