"We'd like to bring you up-to-speed with the latest in our Android 4.1 rollout scheduling," wrote Sony on its official blog. "First up, the upgrade plans for Xperia T, Xperia TX and Xperia V are progressing as planned- these smartphones will start to receive JellyBean during February and March."

The next devices in line for the update will be the Xperia P, Xperia J and the Xperia go. They will all receive Android 4.1 at the end of March. Those will be followed by the Xperia S, Xperia SL, Xperia ion, and Xperia acro S which will get it in the weeks to follow.

"We're particularly excited about the Sony Xperia JellyBean features and functionality- we look forward to bringing you more information on this in the New Year," said Sony.

The company also announced that it made a decision not to upgrade other devices such as the Xperia U, Xperia miro, Xperia tipo, and the Xperia sola beyond Android 4.0. This is great news for those who have been eagerly anticipating Android 4.1 to be available on their Xperia device.

Sony is also planning to release its new Xperia E smartphone in February, which will come with Android 4.1, JellyBean pre-installed.

The U.K. retailer, the Carphone Warehouse stated that the smartphone will be arriving on shelves the second month of the year and that they will also start carrying the handset around the same time.

Sony recently unveiled the Xperia E as its latest midrange addition to the Xperia lineup.

Specifications on the device include a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display, a 3.2-megapixel rear facing camera, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot, 1530mAh battery, and Sony's mobile software that includes Walkman apps and its Timescape user interface.
