Android 4.4 KitKat Release Date Scheduled for This Month, Google Unveils new Statue
The Android 4.4, KitKat release date could be scheduled for this month as Google unveiled its latest statue for the new software.
KitKat is the successor to the wildly popular JellyBean OS that launched in the summer of last year. The statue basically looks like a giant KitKat bar with an Android head attached to the top of it.
Google normally names its new software builds after deserts and follows the alphabet in order to come up with a first letter. The software was originally believed to be called Key Lime Pie. An article in BBC explained why Google decided to go with KitKat instead.

The publication claims that Google considered the name of a popular candy owned by Nestle starting with a K to follow up JellyBean because it was more recognizable and is eaten more than Key Lime Pie
The naming process started with a call from Google's John Lagerling, the director of Android global partnerships to Nestle's UK ad agency. The candy company agreed to let Google use it within an hour's worth of time.
The report also highlights that neither Google nor Nestle is paying the other for this cross-branding deal.
There is no other information available at this time regarding release dates and features for the new software at this time. The latest Android software currently available is 4.3, JellyBean which was released with the latest Nexus 7 model.
Android 4.4, KitKat will most likely be released alongside the next-generation Nexus device that could either be an updated Nexus 4, or Nexus 5. Both Asus and Motorola are rumored to be creating the smartphone. That model will hit stores sometime in the fall.
