Anne Hathaway 'Les Miserables' Trailer Sweeps Internet (VIDEO)

The trailer to the highly anticipated film "Les Miserables" starring Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman hit the internet Wednesday.

In the official teaser, Hathaway expands her talent from acting into singing while portraying Fantine, and is seen with short-cropped hair.

Singing the show's classic number "I Dreamed a Dream," Hathaway also appears haggard and crying.

The all-star cast of "Les Miserables" also includes Russell Crowe, Amanda Seyfried, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, and Eddie Redmayne. The film has already created Oscar buzz. At the helm is Tom Hooper who directed "The King's Speech," which saw four Oscar Awards last year including Best Picture.

The film hits theaters December 7, 2012.

As a Broadway hit in 1987, "Les Miserables" went on to earn an impressive eight Tony Awards including Best Musical.

Hathaway is best known for her roles in "The Princess Diaries" series and "The Devil Wears Prada." She appears in this summer's "The Dark Knight Rises" alongside Christian Bale.

The 29-year-old actress landed perhaps her biggest role in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical though, and many of her fans are sounding off about their excitement for "Les Miserables."

With "Les Mis" becoming a trending topic on Twitter Wednesday, hundreds fans viewed the official trailer as soon as it hit the web.

"Wow can't wait to see the Les Mis movie…" wrote Peter. "The cast is incredible."

Kevin wrote, "Les Mis trailer from Tom Hooper! Looks pretty stunning"

"The Les Mis trailer is kind of insanely amazing and goosebump-y," posted Nylon Magazine. "Thanks Anne Hathaway."

Sam posted, "Les Mis coming on Christmas is going to be the worst wait. It was already my most anticipated movie of the year, but now it's worse."

Despite the widespread praise over the trailer, some moviegoers sounded less enthusiastic about the film.

"I'm liking the new Les Mis trailer but really Amanda Seyfried is just wrong," wrote Natasha.

Jane posted, "I don't know how I feel about the 2012 Les Mis just yet…"
