John Legend, Alicia Keys and heavy metal rock royalty Metallica are shown jamming to popular hits in the latest trailer released by Apple for its "Carpool Karaoke" series. The celebrities are only a few of the expected guests in the 16 half-hour episodes to be hosted by James Corden.
"Carpool Karaoke" is a spinoff of the segment in Corden's "The Late Late Show." It will feature 16 celebrity pairings who will cruise around in a car, belting out the tunes in a playlist they personally compiled.
Previously, Apple revealed the list of artists who would be featured in the show. According to Mac Rumors, the roster will include Will Smith, Billy Eichner, Ariana Grande, Seth MacFarlane, Chelsea Handler and Blake Shelton, among others. John Cena and Shaquille O'Neal are also part of the list.
Apple reportedly bought the rights to "Carpool Karaoke" to promote its Apple Music in July 2016. The show was originally produced by James Corden, Ben Winston and Eric Pankowski.
The new trailer shows Keys pairing up with Legend as they enjoy singing her hit song "Fallin." The "All of Me" crooner is also shown donning Pharrell's iconic "Grammy hat" and claiming that old women think he is the singer-rapper-record producer sometimes. Meanwhile, legendary group Metallica is revealed to be covering Rihanna's "Diamonds."
Other celebrities featured in the promo are Smith, Grande, Handler and Shelton. It is also revealed that the guests will make pit stops along the way. Metallica is shown stopping at a supermarket to perform their rendition of "Enter Sandman." Handler and Shelton, who are one of the pairings, take a break at a bar. Smith, on the other hand, leaves the car with Corden to belt out R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly" while riding in a helicopter.
Apple has yet to announce a release date for "Carpool Karaoke."
