A Chicago woman who has been arrested 396 times has come to a plea deal with a Cook County Court judge that will see her ordered to attend a mental health and substance abuse treatment program.

"All of us are reaching out to you and offering you, maybe for the first time in your life, a hand, OK? But you've got to reach out and grab all of our hands as well," Judge Peggy Chiampas told Shermain Miles, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Miles, 51, told the judge, "I just want to thank you. I'm not that person."

The woman has been at Logan Correctional Center in Lincoln since December 2012.

Previously she had served three tears in prison for an armed robbery conviction, but was released in April 2011. She has since been arrested numerous other times since out on parole, and has been returned to prison.

Her recent arrests included attacking a man last summer, trespassing, and drinking alcohol on a public way.

The judge recently sentenced Miles to time served for all three of those most recent cases. However, she warned she only agreed to do so because Miles had struck a plea deal to submit to a mental health evaluation and follow-up treatment, as well as treatment for alcohol abuse, at the Lincoln prison.

Adam Monreal, chairman of the Illinois Prisoner Review Board, attended the court hearing but stated that he was unable to give any information about how the plea deal and court hearing would affect Miles' release from prison.

IDOC records have listed Miles' parole date as "to be determined."
