Atlanta Fest offers free tickets thru Great Commission ticketing plan

Atlanta Fest, the southeast’s largest Christian music festival, is coming back to Six Flags Over Georgia for its 18th edition on June 16-19, 2004. And, based on the book of Matthew, the festival is taking the words of Jesus seriously by helping attendees get the Word out to others -- for free.

“Jesus challenged his followers to, ‘Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you (Matthew 28:19,20),” said Chuck Tilley, festival director. “This year, we plan to take those words to heart.”

Spurred on by a recommendation from the festival’s volunteer staff, Atlanta Fest organizers have decided to give away free tickets to the four-day festival to groups who purchase tickets. The only stipulation is that those free tickets must be used to bring a person who does not yet know the Lord. Groups buying their tickets in advance receive two free “Great Commission” tickets for the first 15 tickets they buy. One additional free “Great Commission” ticket is given for each additional ten tickets purchased. For example, a youth group buying 75 tickets receives eight additional “Great Commission” tickets free.

“These tickets are meant only to ‘seed the pot,’ in hopes that youth groups will choose to raise additional funds to purchase even more tickets to be given to others who need to hear God’s message -- possibly for the first time,” said Tilley. “These tickets are intended to be used for evangelism purposes -- not as a ticket-discounting plan. We trust that our brothers and sisters in Christ will honor our intentions in this regard.”

Atlanta Fest is the largest contemporary Christian music festival held annually in the southeastern United States. The 2004 event will be held at Six Flags Over Georgia June 16-19. Headlining artists include Third Day, Audio Adrenaline, and Relient K, among the over 50 artists performing on seven stages during the four day event. The music will be supplemented by praise and worship times, seminars on Christian living, Bible studies, and talks by some of the nation’s leading Christian speakers. Back at Atlanta Fest for a third year is the “Prayer Labyrinth” which gives participants an opportunity to encounter God on a personal level through a guided multimedia hands-on experiential journey.

Atlanta Fest 2004 tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 1-800-783-8839 or online at www.atlantafest.com.
