Atlanta Hawks Roster, Injury News 2017: DeAndre' Bembry Suffers Right Wrist Fracture, Out Indefinitely

Atlanta Hawks forward DeAndre' Bembry just can't seem to catch a break.

The second-year pro would have wanted to start the season on the right foot after a disappointing rookie campaign, but as luck would have it, he had to deal with a lingering right tricep strain during the preseason and it forced him to miss some time.

Now things have taken a turn for the worst and he would have to miss some games early on this season after he sustained a fracture in his right wrist during the Hawks' season opener against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.

"I'm feeling like I can't get a break right now. It's always something. What happened last year going through that with my family. Then my summer with the torn muscle. And now it's this. I feel like that strongest soldiers get the strongest battle. Luckily it's nothing too serious," Bembry said, via the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Bembry actually played through the pain after he got hurt, but he said he knew something was wrong with his wrist by Friday morning. He's scheduled to be evaluated by team physicians from Emory Orthopaedics and Spine Center on Monday. The timetable for his return should be set after this evaluation.

With Bembry sidelined, Taurean Prince, Kent Bazemore and Marco Belinelli should see a significant increase in workload. Nico Brussino and Tyler Dorsey should also see some extended playing time at the wing positions, and Malcolm Delaney can play some two-guard as well.

"We just may play some other guys more, we may use some of the young guys," Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said before Friday's game against the Charlotte Hornets, via NBA.com. "We'll just figure it out tonight and as we move forward. I don't think there's anything guaranteed for anybody, it's unfortunate for Deandre and for us," he added.
