'Avengers 4' Release Date, News: Gwyneth Paltrow's Pepper Potts Might Don Rescue Armor

Gwyneth Paltrow has just inadvertently dropped a major spoiler for "Avengers 4." While it has been a while since she appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the actress is set to return in the fourth and final "Avengers" film as Pepper Potts.

Marvel Studios has long been known for shrouding details about its projects in secrecy. No wonder, no major detail about the "Avengers 4" — not even its official title — has been revealed until now. Although some spy photographers have been able to offer a few hints about the new look of some of the Avengers in the upcoming movie, those images could only reveal so much.

Earlier this week, Paltrow posted a photo on social media which might have revealed Pepper Potts' new armor in "Avengers 4." The photo, which she deleted immediately, showed her mocap leggings, potentially hinting that Pepper Potts will wear an armor in the upcoming film.

The idea of Pepper Potts wearing an armor sounds exciting for fans, especially since the character is not usually shown wearing an armor in the MCU. In "Iron Man 3," she was featured wearing an armored suit, but that moment was brief. She also wore the same armor during her final battle with the villain.

Since the errant photo spread like wildfire across social media, fans were quick to speculate that Pepper Potts might fill in for Tony when he's stuck in a critical situation at some point during the "Avengers 4." However, that does not mean that she is going to be a permanent substitute for the Iron Man.

Speculations are rife that Pepper Potts will don the Rescue in "Avengers 4." In the original comics, it was Tony who created the Rescue armor for Pepper. This armor does not have offensive weapons because Pepper does not want to be an instrument of war.

"Avengers 4" will hit theaters on May 3, 2019.
