Barcelona manager Gerardo Martino has come out ahead of the game to say that he intends to see out his contract, rubbishing rumors that he will be leaving in a few months time at the end of the current season.

Martino has only been in charge of Barcelona since last July and signed up to a two year deal. However, speculation was rife ahead of the Real Madrid game that he had said he wanted to depart the hot seat at the Nou Camp.

But Martino has come out at a news conference ahead of today's game to say, "I always respect my contracts."

Barcelona for the time being will want to put all distractions aside and focus at the task in hand. They were in danger of dropping 7 points behind Real if they lost at the weekend, but they managed to claim a dramatic 4-3 win to move to just one point of their rivals.

However, the big winners at the weekend were Atletico Madrid. They move top of La Liga thanks to Real's loss – even though they are on the same points as their cross-town rivals they are top due to a better head to head record.
