Benny Hinn to Hold Revival Crusade in Sao Paulo During Brazil Carnival

Evangelist Benny Hinn will be hoping to help bring revival to Brazil during the country's carnival period, taking place from Feb. 9 through 12.

Hinn will be in Sao Paulo for the "Fire of Revival Crusade," which is being promoted by the Apostolic Church Plenitude do Trono de Deus. The event is predicted to draw large crowds to the Portuguesa Gymnasium in northern part of the city.

According to the organizers, Apostle Agenor Duque and Bishop Ingrid Duque, the event was sparked by a call from God reminding them of the time when the people of God gathered together while the wicked went to bow down to Baal.

The carnival period in Brazil is the largest annual festival and draws millions of people from across the globe to watch colorful and extravagant street parades conducted by samba schools.

Many have highlighted the high rates of alcohol abuse and sexual promiscuity in Brazil's modern society, and Hinn, who is known for his regular "Miracle Crusades," will look to minister to Brazilians to counter the rising immoral trends, in the hope of bringing revival.

Despite some critics condemning Hinn for his teachings on prosperity and gifts of healing, the evangelist's meetings usually attract millions to large stadiums in major cities in the United States, promising revival and healing to the sick.

In Brazil, Hinn also draws praise and criticism for different camps. For many he is a great healing evangelist, while for others, he has been labeled as a "show-man."

Hinn will be preaching at the event with Brazilian Pastor Marco Feliciano. Feliciano is also a Pentecostal leader whose events often draw hundreds of thousands.

Currently, Feliciano is involved in a range of political issues in Brazil, and has become a prominent speaker against gay activism, among numerous other issues related to Christian ethics and morality.

Feliciano was recently commended by the American Center for the Law and Justice (ACLJ) for sending a direct letter to Iran calling for the release of an imprisoned pastor. Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani's case made media headlines around the world, and a large campaign was sparked calling for his release. He was eventually released by Iranian authorities late last year.

Other speakers at the event will include Brazilian Pastors Abíblio Santana, and Yossef Akiva.
