BlizzCon 2017 News: 'Overwatch' To Receive A Healer Hero Called Moira

This year's BlizzCon revealed several surprises for the fans of "Overwatch." Game developer Blizzard has announced a new character named Moira and said that this is their answer to the demands of the fans to have a healer on board the roster of playable characters.

"The community has been like, "We need a healer, we need a healer, we need a healer!" And we've also been wanting to develop more Talon characters," "Overwatch" principal designer Scott Mercer told GameSpot. "And we also wanted some sort of, not just a Talon character, but a "bad" healer. She's a scientist, but ethics aren't her concern. She cares about the results; she cares about the discovery and the science. And with Talon, she doesn't have to work around things as she might if she was back in Overwatch."

Moira will have several abilities: Bionic Grasp, Bionic Orb, Fade, and Coalescence.

Bionic Grasp allows her to sap the health of the enemies in order to replenish her own, Bionic Orb allows her to heal the enemies in front of her, Fade gives her the ability to teleport, and Coalescence comes in the form of a long beam, which heals her allies and damages her enemies at the same time. The last ability is also capable of passing through barriers, which means that virtually nothing can stop this attack once Moira activates it.

Moira was featured as a hero with ties to the Talon and the Reaper. As such, her abilities are well explained in her background which was featured in her character trailer. Although she seems like a villain, she was designed to be the primary Support of her teammates.

Aside from the new addition, a new map called Blizzard World will be added, and it will feature some visuals that are reminiscent of other titles from the developer, such as "Diablo" and "Starcraft."

There is no release date yet for Moira, but fans are expecting her to land soon. "Overwatch" is now available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
