Brave Mom Surprises Home Invaders With Bullets to Protect Children (Video)
A Detroit mother of two used an assault rifle to defend her family against three armed home invaders Monday night when she sent them running for their lives in a hail of bullets and it was all caught on surveillance video.
The mother, who remained unidentified for security reasons, told 7 Action News that when she heard her door being kicked in she got ready with a loaded gun. Once the three teenage intruders were insider her home she warned them that she was armed with a gun and was prepared to use it.
The brazen culprits, however, did not take the mother's threat seriously.

"I let them know I had a gun once they were in the house. They said, 'no you don't,' so I shot off the first round. I wasn't feeling anything at the moment, I got scared afterwards," she said.
As the young intruders ran for their lives one of them dropped a handgun as he exited the woman's door. He tried getting back inside the home but the woman fired off some more rounds and he took off.
Detroit police arrested them shortly after the attack.
According to the woman, during the attack her daughter said, "Oh no mommy, I don't want them to take my piggy bank or my toys."
Reacting to the dramatic footage of the incident Detroit's Chief of Police Craig James said the mother did the right thing when she gave a verbal warning signaling that she was armed before firing on the suspects.
Her husband said he is thankful that his wife and children are safe and added that he gave her the gun just two weeks ago and showed her how to use it.
"If I hadn't prepared my wife for this kind of situation, I could have come home to a family that was gone," he said.
Two of the teens are now in custody at a juvenile detention center awaiting prosecution while and the third is out on bond.
