Brooke Astor's Son, Anthony Marshall, Sent to Prison for Stealing Mother's Millions

Anthony Marshall, Brooke Astor's son, will go to prison after spending years attempting to avoid punishment.

The 89-year-old man was wheeled out of court and transferred to a prison, where he will spend the next one to three years behind bars for cheating his late mother out of millions of dollars.

"We will always have each other, always," Charlene, Marshall's third wife, whispered in her husbands ear before he was taken away, according to The New York Daily News.

"Always," Marshall responded.

In 2006 Marshall's son, Phillip, alleged that Marshall and Francis X. Morrissey Jr., an Astor family lawyer, were guilty of robbing Mrs. Astor of over $10 million, The New York Times reported. Both Marshall and Morrissey were convicted in 2009. The two men allegedly tricked Mrs. Astor, who had Alzheimer's disease at the time, to signing over her will.

Both men were sentenced one to three years in prison but allowed to remain out of prison while pursuing an appeal. New York State's highest courts refused an appeal in the case Friday morning.

"My heart has been ripped out of my body," Charlene Marshall said while exiting the courtroom.

Anthony Marshall is now suffering from Parkinson's disease. He arrive in court attached to oxygen tank, his lawyers pointing out that he had "demanding medical needs," according to The NY Daily News.

Marshall's mother passed in 2007 at the age of 105. She did not live to hear the five-month trial leading up to Marshall's sentencing, which revealed countless family secrets. Marshall's son claimed that he discovered his grandmother living in filth and too sick to clean up after her own mess.

As of today, Marshall has paid back at lest $12 million that was stolen, according to reports.
