District Attorney Dismisses Insanity Plea for Leiby Kletzky Killer

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes has vowed to the parents of slain 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky Tuesday that he would pursue swift justice against alleged confessed killer Levi Aron.

Hynes also dismissed reports that Aron’s attorneys would use an insanity defense.

The district attorney paid a 20-minute visit to the Kletzky family on Tuesday, expressing his condolences to the distressed family.

"I wanted to make a personal commitment that every resource of this office will be used to make sure the issue is resolved in a way that is appropriate," Hynes told the Daily News.

He continued, “I've got 16 grandchildren - four are the age of Leiby. I understand in a very special way the torture of this family."

Hynes assured the Kletzky family that his office is working with a wealth of evidence and is prepared to pursue the prosecution very soon.

The young boy disappeared on July 11 after getting lost while walking from Yeshiva camp to meet his parents in Borough Park.

His parents searched frantically for the boy over a period of two days, but were unsuccessful.

Investigators soon came across surveillance video showing Leiby walking with Aron.

Officers visited Aron's home and discovered parts of the boy's body in the freezer and other parts inside a suitcase a few miles from the 35-year-old man's apartment.

Aron is currently being held without bail and faces charges of first-degree murder and kidnapping.

The court placed Aron on suicide watch and ordered him to undergo a psychiatric examination after he claimed to hear voices in his head.
