'Call Me Maybe' Singer Carly Rae Jepsen Never Gives Out Her Number

Singer of the number-one hit "Call Me Maybe" Carly Rae Jepsen has admitted that despite the song's title, she has never given out her number.

When asked if she had ever given her number to a guy, Jepsen explained her situation to the Associated Press.

"I've done brave things for love before or for the possibility of the idea of love, but I've never quite done that and I'm pretty sure now that I never can because that would be really, really awkward," said the Canadian singer.

"Call Me Maybe" has remained at number-one on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the last five weeks.

"I just met you, and this is crazy, but here's my number, so call me maybe," the 26-year-old sings on the catchy track.

Moreover, the song has sold more than 100,000 copies and is the fastest-selling single in the U.K. this year. The success of the song is credited to its top position on YouTube where it has accumulated millions of views.

Jepsen placed third on Canada's version of "American Idol," and signed a record deal with Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, earlier this year. The singer and songwriter is the first Canadian "Idol" to enter charts in the U.K.

Dozens of fans have parodied "Call Me Maybe," most recently featuring "Sesame Street" puppet the Cookie Monster.

"Hey, me just met you, and this is crazy, but you got cookie, so share it maybe," sings the famed cookie-loving character in "Share It Maybe." The version of Jepsen's song has seen almost four million views in under one week.

Noting her career's catapult, Jepsen said, "It's hard to believe at the moment. It's definitely a surreal life that I'm in right now, but I'm enjoying every second of it. It's pretty crazy," according to the Daily Mail.
