Candace Cameron Bure Criticizes Kanye West for 'Yeezus' Album Title: 'Too Close' to Jesus

Christian actress Candace Cameron Bure criticized rapper Kanye West for comparing himself to Jesus on his latest album, Yeezus.

"That is way too close," Bure told "Sway in the Morning." "It totally bugs me. I have issues with that," she said of the name comparison, which is very similar to Jesus.

"There's a million other names out there … And you could have chosen one that is not one letter off from Jesus. I mean, that's just a little too close. Come on. He's actually comparing himself to Jesus. Really? Should any of us be doing that? Maybe you should change your name to 'Uda,'" Bure suggested, referencing the name of Buddha.

Bure started her acting career on "Full House," but has recently been taking on more Christian roles for the GMC channel, a family-friendly, uplifting channel. She also starred on "Make It or Break It," an ABC Family series about gymnasts. Bure has spoken about her faith, but chooses to do so in a way much different from her outspoken brother, actor Kirk Cameron.

"Acting is my first passion – and my faith is incredibly important, which flows into every aspect of my life, which includes the decisions that I make on acting," Bure told Yahoo's Meriah Doty last year. "I want to focus on great family programming and good movies … My brother and I have a different style of saying some of those [religious] things. But he is much more in the world of ministry and does a lot of conferences."

Bure said that what bothered her most about West's album title was the "lack of humility" when referencing Jesus.

"I think it's more, it comes from a humility point of view. That I would be humbled enough for what Jesus did for me that I don't want to, in any way, elevate myself or put myself side-by-side. I'm humbled by his gratitude," Bure explained.
