'Captain Marvel' Updates: Carol Danvers to End Up in Space, Hints Kevin Feige

While it is already known that the upcoming "Captain Marvel" solo movie will bring fans back to the 1990s as the origin story of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) will be set in the said decade, some fans can't help but wonder why the female Marvel superhero character has not been around when the Avengers was formed.

However, in a recent interview, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has hinted where the female superhero could have been when Marvel superheroes assembled as a team.

In a recent interview, Feige was asked why Carol Danvers was not present when Avengers formed in the MCU's (Marvel Cinematic Universe) timeline. After all, as her origin story is set in the '90s, she should have already been around when Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) formed the team of superheroes.

"The key is out there," Feige told iO9 as he pointed his hands in the air.

While Feige, apparently, did not explain what may have happened to Carol Danvers after her origin movie, it is believed that the Marvel Studios big boss is trying to say that the female Marvel superhero was in space when Avengers was formed. Hence, she can only join her fellow Marvel superheroes in "Avengers 4."

As it will have been more than 20 years since her origin story before Carol Danvers appears in an "Avengers" movie, it is but natural for fans to assume she would be older when she reappears. However, as Larson is still young, it goes without saying that it will not be the case. As to how Carol Danvers is able to preserve her youthful look when she joins the Avengers, it can only be speculated that she may time travel or may have been sucked into a wormhole.

Apart from the fact that "Captain Marvel" will be set in the '90s, feature Nick Fury with his two eyes still, and bring the Skrulls as the big bad of the movie, no one outside the production really knows how its story will pan out. Hence, fans can only speculate for now on how Carol Danvers supposedly ends up in space and maintains her youth when she returns to join the Avengers.

"Captain Marvel" is slated to hit the theaters on March 8, 2019.
