Carrie Underwood, Mike Fisher Splitting? Couple Remains Committed to Christian Faith and Marriage Vows

Country superstar Carrie Underwood and hockey star Mike Fisher are reportedly considering separating. Yet neither Underwood nor Fisher has addressed the rumors and remain centered in their Christian faith.

"Mike is fuming," a source told Star magazine. "Carrie is thrilled about all the opportunities, but she's very conflicted and confused. She and Mike are barely speaking. Between his schedule with the Nashville Predators and her rehearsals, they barely saw each other the last three months. When they did steal some time alone, Carrie was wiped out physically and emotionally. The ordeal left Mike feeling neglected and ignored."

Yet in an interview earlier this year, Underwood explained that she would give up her career in order to support her marriage and husband.

"He knows [performing] is what I love, and he completely supports me in it, as I do him," Underwood told People magazine. "But if Mike ever told me he needed me to quit, I'd quit. When you make that promise to somebody, and you stand before God and your family and friends, you've got to do everything that you possibly can to make that work."

The couple married in July 2010 and has enjoyed great success both professionally and personally. They actually got engaged just before Christmas in 2009; Fisher proposed in the middle of a forest during a trip to his Canadian hometown.

"It was just a really sweet moment," Underwood told Contact Music. "He said my full name, 'Carrie Marie Underwood, will you marry me?' He got down on his knee, like every man should. And I tackled him in the snow. I forgot to even look at the ring, like I wasn't even paying attention."

"After that, we prayed together. We were both so excited and we just wanted God to watch over us, and our plans, and our marriage, and whatever might happen from that day forward," Underwood said.

She recently faced a mixture of rave reviews and harsh criticism for her performance in a live version of "The Sound of Music." But instead of letting the critics get the best of her, Underwood turned to God for encouragement and assurance.

"Plain and simple: Mean people need Jesus," Underwood tweeted. "They will be in my prayers tonight… 1 Peter 2:1-25."
