Casey Anthony Claims She Was Sexually Abused by Father, Jeff Ashton Book Reveals

Attorneys representing Casey Anthony during her murder trial tried to persuade her to accept a plea deal as her trial was coming to a close, one of the prosecutors from the case has revealed. The prosecutor also reveals that Anthony claimed she was sexually abused by her father when she was younger.

The revelations come in Jeff Ashton’s new book about Anthony called “Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony.”

Ashton writes in his book, which was released Tuesday, that the 25-year-old mother of murdered two-year-old Caylee Anthony “may have deserved” the death penalty had she been found guilty. However, he adds that he does not believe a jury would have chosen to impose that sentence.

Ashton revealed: “Personally, I think I would have been happier if the death penalty had not been reintroduced into the case, even though I think on some level I think Casey may have deserved it. Simply put, I just didn’t think the jury would go there.”

Ultimately Anthony’s decision to refuse to a plea deal worked out for her as she was acquitted of the murder of her two-year-old daughter.

In his book, the now retired Ashton also rebukes Anthony’s defense attorney Jose Baez: “There is an unearned air of arrogance about the man that is incredibly frustrating to witness. The word I used in describing Jose is smarmy: somebody who is slick, underhanded and doesn’t shoot straight.”

The book also reveals details about the two defense psychological evaluations given to Anthony. Ashton writes that Anthony told psychologists that she was sexually abused by her father when she was younger.

The explosive book by Jeff Ashton is out now.
