Fans of the hit police procedural drama TV series "Castle" Season 8 are about to get another dose of their favorite couple, Kate and Rick, as ABC gets ready to roll out the show's special episode this Sunday.
Entitled "Witness for the Protection," Episode 10 will air during Valentine's Day. Despite its timely airing, viewers won't get to witness any romance-themed storyline of some sort, except perhaps for the fact that Rick and Kate have already reunited rather secretly.
The synopsis shared over at The Futon Critic hinted that the latest installment will see Rick heading for court where he gets to testify as one of the key witnesses to a murder which occurred five months ago.
However, things are expected to take a turn for the worse when new information suddenly comes to light. This new development prompts Rick and Beckett to go out and investigate in a race against time as they try to prevent "a miscarriage of justice."
The new episode will mark the first time where the show features a courtroom scene and the ongoing trial of a case.
"I think it will be a treat for our longtime fans," series co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter told TVLine earlier this year. "It refers to several things that have happened in the last few years."
Needless to say, this won't be the only surprise that longtime viewers of the long-running series should expect in the episode.
"He's an 'interesting' guy to give testimony. He has to take the stand— annnnnd it kind of goes sideways," Winter teased.
"So then there's fallout from that, some scrambling to do damage control!" co-exec producer Alexi Hawley chimed in.
Although "Castle" Season 8 will also be airing this weekend, this doesn't mean that there won't be a brand new episode this coming Monday.
On Feb. 15, the show will return with Episode 11 titled "Dead Red" at its usual timeslot on the channel.
