Chris Brown: Rihanna Assault Was My 'Biggest Mistake'

Chris Brown recently opened up about his infamous 2009 domestic assault against Rihanna, describing it as his "biggest" regret. The R&B artist revealed that the couple is now "very happy."

The pair split shortly after the incident, which left Rihanna's face battered and bruised, and although critics still struggle to forgive the singer after seeing photos of the Bajan singer's face. Brown, however, says that her forgiveness is all that matters.

"Sometimes you row, you fight, with the one you love and things get said, stuff spirals," Brown told the Daily Mirror. "That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake."

In January Rihanna, 25, confirmed that she and Brown. 23, had reconciled despite public pleas and objections from fans for the singer to steer clear of him.

"She loves me what can I say? I'm forgiven … but, yes, I worked hard for it," Brown said.

The couple, who is said to be happier than ever, fueled engagement rumors during the 55th Grammy awards when they arrived together with a white gold ring placed on Rihanna's ring finger. The "Don't Wake Me Up" singer has blessings from Rihanna's father, Ronald Fenty, who has no objections to a wedding.

"Whatever makes her happy. I hope one day she will get married. Everyone adores Chris; he's a super guy," Ronald Fenty previously told Life & Style magazine.

Brown has not addressed the engagement rumors although he admitted that he is "really happy" with the "beautiful" singer.

''We are really happy. We are back together," Brown told The New York Post at the Sir Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars party in Hollywood on Sunday.

"She is the most beautiful girl in the world. But I'm sad she couldn't be here tonight; she is rehearsing for her tour," he added.

Brown also had a message for his critics explaining that those who continue to judge him based on his past no longer affect him.

"People attack me and criticize me, it happens all the time but they don't know me. They don't know us. It doesn't bother me any more," he said.

"I've learned a lot since that night and I've grown up," he continued adding that, "the support from those who do know me and the fans, who are incredible, got me through."
