Christian Group Exposes Scandal at Texas Abortion Clinics

Discoveries from an undercover operation carried out by Christian activists have prompted Texas authorities to crack down on abortion providers who may be improperly disposing of the remains of aborted babies.

Pro-life groups Operation Rescue and The Survivors (of the Abortion Holocaust) teamed up in the undercover probe and discovered numerous alleged state violations in the process, including the mishandling of patient records and improper disposal of medical waste, such as human tissue.

After the activists filed complaints with the Texas Medical Board concerning twelve practitioners, nine have been cited for hearings to determine possible disciplinary actions.

“We discovered abortion abuses at every clinic that we investigated. What we found in Texas is just a microcosm of the appalling conditions and horrific abortion practices that exist at abortion clinics in every state that endanger the health and safety of women each day," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.

The full list of abortion practitioners facing possible charges include: Margaret Kini, Alan Molson, Robert L. Prince, Douglas Karpen, and H. Brook Randal, William Watkins West, Jr., Robert E. Hanson, Jr., Pedro J. Kowalyszyn, and Sherwood C. Lynn.

Their hearings have been scheduled for October 28, 2011.

The findings of the investigation also got the attention of the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), which noted alleged violations involving Whole Woman’s Health clinics that include illegal disposal of the remains of aborted babies.

Kini, Molson, and Randal are affiliated with Whole Woman’s Health organization, which has clinics in five Texas cities and one in Baltimore, Md.

Earlier this year, Operation Rescue and The Survivors sent two women to Texas for four weeks to get a first-hand look at how abortion clinics in the state operate.

“Through my work at colleges with the Campus Life Tour, I have met women who are convinced that abortion clinics are safe, law abiding, confidential, and clean," said Ashley Colantuono, one of the women who participated in the probe.

Colantuono added, "As I discovered during our investigation, all of those claims are false... Evidence gathered proves that abortion clinics throughout the state of Texas are unclean, unsafe, and their staff lack respect for women and their right to privacy.”

Operation Rescue has conducted similar operations in Kansas and New Mexico.

About 1,242,000 abortions were performed in the U.S. in 2006, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
