Christian Music Fans to Dub 'Top Video of the Year'

The very first "Gospel Music Channel Video Awards" will honor the top videos in six categories as well as one overall Top Video of the Year.

Winners will be determined by fans through online voting at gospelmusicchannel.com.

Voters can choose from nominees in Rock, Country, Soul, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Latin categories that were determined by the amount of airplay the videos received on Gospel Music Channel throughout 2007.

The following are current leading nominees in each category:

ROCK: Relient K's "Must Have Done Something Right" currently tops videos by Starflyer 59, Robert Randolph and The Family Band, Seventh Day Slumber, Skillet, and Switchfoot.

COUNTRY: The Rodney Atkins video of "Watching You" currently tops videos by Danielle Peck, Martina McBride, Johnny Cash, Rascal Flatts and Jaime O'Neal.

SOUL: Mary Mary's "Yesterday" currently tops videos by Fred Hammond, Melvin Williams, Shirley Murdock, Kierra "KiKi" Sheard and Micah Stampley.

HIP HOP: "Who Am I" by Da T.R.U.T.H. and featuring Tye Tribbett currently tops videos by Soul P., Manafest, Tonex, Kevin L and tobyMac.

CONTEMPORARY: "Hallelujah" by Krystal Meyers currently tops videos by Jars of Clay, Jeremy Camp, Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith and David Crowder Band.

LATIN: Face 2 Face's "Que Puedo Darte" currently tops videos by Funky and Jesús Adrián Romero.

Voting will close Wednesday, Dec. 5.

Gospel Music Channel Video Awards winners will be announced on-air in a special Hot List: Viewers' Choice 2007 on Gospel Music Channel (GMC) on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 7:00 p.m. EST.

The special edition of the network's video countdown series will kick-off GMC's Best of 2007 Video Marathon – 83 hours of the top videos running through Jan. 2, 2008.
