Convoy of Hope added ten more vehicles to its international fleet late March to assist with the compassion organization’s long-term relief work in Indonesia and Sri Lanka.

The vehicles, donated by PT Ford Motor Indonesia, will be shared by the Convoy of Hope (COH) and its partner organizations as they continue their long-term commitment to Southeast Asia.

“We are so appreciative of Ford's generosity - these vehicles will help our relief efforts run much more effectively because we'll be able to get more people and supplies where they need to be that much faster,” said Jeff Nene, COH's Media/Communications Director, who was at the presentation late March. “The timing couldn't be more perfect because we have several volunteer work teams going over to help with the rebuilding efforts this summer.”

Will Angove, President Director of PT Ford Motor Indonesia, presented COH officials with keys to the automobiles after his first visit to the area since the tsunami hit Southeast Asia in December 2004. According to COH, when Angrove saw the destruction first-hand, he was moved and even more determined with assisting in the organization's relief work.

“You still can't fathom the extent of the devastation until you see it first-hand,” Angrove said.

COH’s Nene anticipates that the organization will continue to provide humanitarian aid to Southeast Asia for a long time to come. The current plan has COH working in the area through the remainder of 2005 and into 2006.
