Cops have confiscated a 2-pound joint of marijuana at the University of California, Santa Cruz campus on Saturday.

A recent video was posted online showing authorities on the school campus carrying away what is said to be a massive marijuana joint.

According to a report from KTVU, the incident took place on April 20. The video, which has now gone viral shows the cop carrying the joint with dozens of students walking alongside him amazed at the size of the joint.

On the video one of the students can be heard saying, "Oh dude, we're going to court, man; we're totally going to court."

It has been reported that police decided to confiscate the joint because it violated the legal limit for carrying pot, which currently stands at one ounce.

Chief of Police Nadar Oweis has told reporters: "It's not that we don't want to shut it down, but it's tougher because we have limited resources and the high cost it would take to completely stop the event, is not something we have right now."

In the United States, cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug (under federal law); 5.1 percent of Americans said they used marijuana in the past 30 days.

In 1977, 38 percent of 12th graders reported using cannabis in the past month; in 2011, 23 percent of the same age group reported using cannabis in the same time span.

Since the early 20th century cannabis has been subject to legal restrictions with the possession, use, and sale of cannabis preparations containing psychoactive cannabinoids currently illegal in most countries of the world; the United Nations has said that cannabis is the most-used illicit drug in the world.
