Cory Monteith Enters Rehab, Lea Michele Offers Full Support

Cory Monteith, star of Fox's hit series "Glee" has checked himself into rehab for substance addiction, his representative confirmed. While Monteith will miss filming some episodes of "Glee," his girlfriend, and co-star Lea Michele is standing by her man and offered her public support.

Monteith, 30, "voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery," his representative told People's website.

It's not the first time that Monteith has checked himself into a rehab facility, and the actor has been open about his struggle with addiction and the toll it has taken on him and his family.

"I'm lucky on so many counts," he told Parade magazine after admitting that he began drinking and using drugs when he was 13. "I'm lucky to be alive." After an intervention from friends and family, Monteith went to rehab but fell off the wagon soon after leaving.

"I stole a significant amount of money from a family member. I knew I was going to get caught, but I was so desperate I didn't care. I was done fighting myself. I finally said, 'I'm gonna start looking at my life and figure out why I'm doing this,'" Monteith said.

Now girlfriend Lea Michele has taken a firm stand in the situation and offered her full support to Monteith while he gets the help he needs.

"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this. I am grateful and proud he made this decision," she told People. "He really, really inspires me and he motivates me and I think he's just so talented."

Monteith will miss production of the latest season of "Glee," but fans have offered him their support and best wishes as he receives treatment.

"Glee's Cory Monteith has checked into rehab. Hope he gets the help he needs; he's such a nice guy," tweeted Jenna Mullins.

"Yes, it's true. Cory Monteith has checked himself into rehab, his rep confirms. Happy to know he's getting help. God bless and let God," added Marc Malkin.
