Daniel Bedingfield Recovering from Car Crash
Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Daniel Bedingfield is lucky to be alive after he was in a serious car crash that caused him head and neck injuries. Bedingfield is reported to be in stable condition at a New Zealand hospital and would likely to be released next week, according to Allion Lees, Whangarei Base Hospital spokeswoman.
"But he won't be well enough to travel, so he'll be recuperating in New Zealand for two or three months," Lees told reporters. "He's damaged vertebrae in his neck but it hasn't affected his motor or sensory capabilities. He's a fairly lucky guy."
Bedingfield was driving his Jeep Cherokee from music festival near Whangarei when the accident happened. Firefighters had to cut him out when he was trapped upside down in the car wreckage. A passenger who was in the vehicle was uninjured.

For now, Bedingfield needs to recuperate so plans to finish recording his upcoming album have been postponed.
"He had half a new album in the can before he left for New Zealand," said Neale Easterby, Bedingfield's manager. "We'll just have to push stuff back."
Bedingfield's mother, Molly Bedingfield, optmistically sees the car accident as providing inspiration to Bedingfield's songwriting.
"I would expect some songs to come out of these hard times, as often happens with writers," she said.
The 24-year-old singer is just thankful to have survived.
"He's happy. He just thanks God he's alive," said Easterby.
Daniel Bedingfield, an outspoken Christian in the mainstream, became internationlly recognized with his debut album, Gotta Get Thru This, which hit No.1 on the British charts and sold 3 million copies.
