'Deadpool 2' Release Date, News: Ryan Reynolds Shares New Posters for Upcoming Film

"Deadpool" actor Ryan Reynolds has shared two new images from "Deadpool 2," teasing the highly-anticipated sequel to the hit movie and sharing his reaction to Disney's acquisition of Fox. The poster is inspired by the popular 16th-century painting by Michelangelo, "The Creation of Adam."

In the original painting, God is shown reaching out the first man ever created, Adam. Unlike in the original image where Adam is not wearing anything, the new "Deadpool 2" poster shows the Merc with a Mouth wearing his maroon costume. Also, Deadpool is not reaching out to touch God but placing his finger in the barrel of a gun wielded by Cable (Josh Brolin).

Reynolds posted the poster on Twitter and captioned it, "Some might call this creation a masterpiece, but to me it's just well hung art to be shared with the world."

The other poster shows a security guard leading Deadpool off the premises of Disneyland and is captioned "Apparently you can't actually blow the Matterhorn," suggesting Reynold's reaction to the recent Disney-Fox merger.

Earlier this week, 20th Century Fox, which distributes "Deadpool 2," has been acquired by Disney. Before the news surfaced this week, Reynolds shared in a post last week that the merger might lead to a possible "Deadpool" and "Mickey Mouse" team-up movie. "Time to uncork that explosive sexual tension between Deadpool and Mickey Mouse," he said.

Last month, the first trailer for "Deadpool 2" was released, teasing yet another hilarious and action-packed sequel. The said teaser trailer featured the first footage from the sequel and offered a glimpse of Reynolds and Brolin's characters.

Aside from Reynolds and Brolin, other cast members of "Deadpool 2" include Morena Baccarin, Zazie Beets, TJ Miller, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapicic, Leslie Uggams, Jack Kesy, Karan Soni and Eddie Marsan.

"Deadpool 2" arrives in theaters on June 1, 2018.
