One of the highlights of last night's game was when center fielder Coco Crisp performed a dramatic warning-track catch to deny the Tigers' Prince Fielder of a home run. That catch proved crucial as it came in just the second inning with the score at the time just 1-0 to the Athletics.

These two teams have been so closely matched in the series to date, and each game could have easily gone either way. Game 1 saw the Tigers claim a tense 3-1 win, and Game 2 was even more intense as the Tigers pulled off a 5-4 win to put them on the verge of a series win. But the Athletics have refused to give up and last night's 2-0 win could prove a turning moment in the series.

So far the games have all gone with the home team, and the Athletics will be hopeful that the trend continues as the final two games will both be taking place in Oakland.

For Wednesday's game the Athletics will opt to start rookie pitcher A.J. Griffin, who in 15 regular season starts went 7-1 with a 3.06 ERA.

However, the A's will be hoping he will not be carrying any psychological baggage as he had his worst game of the season against the Tigers on Sept. 18 when Detroit won 12-2, with Griffin giving up five earned runs and three home runs.

Opposite Griffin will be 28 year old Max Scherzer, who went 16-7 with a 3.74 ERA. HE was in fact second in the majors in strikeouts with an impressive 231.
