Droid 4 Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich Update Rolls out This Week

Verizon customers who own a Motorola Droid 4 smartphone should have received the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich update earlier this week.

The carrier announced that it would be rolling out the upgrade starting on Aug. 13. The software boost brings with it new features including the addition of new global capabilities previously unavailable on the Droid 4. This will allow customers to use voice and data while abroad with an international plan.

The LG Optimus 2X will be receiving the Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich update in the near future, according to a recent announcement made by LG Korea.

The device was expected to get its first taste of Ice Cream Sandwich last year. However, the Canadian division of the company had announced that the update was canceled. Now it seems that the cancelation was only meant for Canadian users since Korean users will get the update soon.

LG Korea also stated that the update is currently being tested. It did not clarify when it will be ready or what other regions will receive it.

The 10.1-inch Wi-Fi only version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab has started to receive the Ice Cream Sandwich update in the U.S.

Many of the Galaxy Tab 10.1 owners living in the U.S. woke up to a notification to update their device to the Android software yesterday. Rumors had been circulating that the tablet would be receiving the update sometime in the summer and it seems that it made it just before school started.

However, not all have received the update as some Galaxy Tab users have not yet been able to access it. It seems to be rolling out gradually rather than all at once.

The upgrade can be accessed OTA (over-the-air) or through a PC with Samsung Kies software.
