'DWTS' Surprise Results, No Elimination This Week

"Dancing with the Stars" week six saw high-energy performances from the eight remaining couples, but fortunately, none face elimination.

The rare lack of elimination during the episode was the result of what "DWTS" host Tom Bergeron described as "technical difficulties."

Last week's East Coast and Central broadcasts of the reality dance competition caused viewer's votes to be off when telephone numbers and their coinciding couples became jumbled. Since the on-air mistake threw off voting accuracy, "DWTS" producers scrapped this week's elimination, and the judges scores last night went toward bonus points to be carried over to next week.

Nevertheless, only one celebrity will win the mirrorball trophy for season 17, and some are already in jeopardy of an early elimination.

Monday night's show included "The Switch-up Challenge" which saw two rounds of surprise, improvisational side-by-side dancing. Some couples tackled the challenge head-on, while others faltered.

Comedian Bill Engvall and his partner Emma Slater were at the bottom of the leaderboard at the end of the night, but fortunately for them, the pair may return to the dance floor next Monday to continue the competition without elimination.

Among the highest-scoring performances were that of "Glee" star Amber Riley and her partner Derek Hough. Also, actor Brant Daugherty and his partner Peta Murgatroyd were also among the highest-scoring during Monday's episode.

In addition to the dance performances, "DWTS" viewers enjoyed a performance by MIKA and Ariana Grande.

"DWTS" airs Mondays on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.

While "DWTS" fans were surprised over the lack of elimination, many agreed with the showrunners that canceling the mismatched votes was the appropriate thing to do.

Also, toward the end of the show, Jennifer Lopez made a surprise visit in support of her friend and this season's "DWTS" contestant Leah Remini.
