"Eastbound & Down" will enter its final season this fall, HBO announced this week.

The hit comedy series starring Danny McBride as Kenny Powers will kick off its fourth and final season on Sept. 29.

Filming for season four kicked off in North Carolina just as news of the cancelation broke, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The final season will see eight episodes chronicling Powers, a former professional baseball pitcher who returns to his hometown to substitute teach physical education.

Although HBO wanted to continue the series beyond the fourth season, the "Eastbound & Down" creative team was ready to move on.

Fans of the show sounded off about the series cancelation on Twitter Friday, voicing disappointment.

"Noooo," stared Harlow. "Eastbound and Down got canceled. #stupid #lame"

Krystina posted, "I thought HBO could do no wrong, but then they canceled Eastbound and Down."

"HBO stay cancelling all the ready good shows," wrote Rob. "1st How to Make it in America and how Eastbound and Down #SMH"

Gene wrote, "At least we get one more season, but still sad."

"Eastbound & Down" is executive produced by Jody Hill, Danny McBride, Will Ferrell, Chris Henchy and Adam McKay.

The show also stars Steve Little, Katy Mixon, John Hawkes and Andrew Daly, among others.

Also announced Thursday was a new film by "Curb Your Enthusiasm's" Larry David. The film, "Clear History," will air Aug. 10.

Meanwhile, HBO has increased their comedy offerings as of late. The cable network renewed both "Veep" and "Girls" for a third season, and "Family Tree" has been introduced this season.

Furthermore, "Hello Ladies" is set to premiere on the network in September, while other comedy series are also in the works for the fall season.
