Elizabeth Banks has announced the arrival of her second child, a baby boy, on Wednesday.
The "Hunger Games" star and her husband Max Handelman broke the happy news on her website.
"Nothing can match the joy and excitement my husband and I felt when we recently welcomed our second baby boy, Magnus Mitchell Handelman," wrote the actress.
Banks married sportswriter and producer Handelman in 2003. The newest addition to the family joins older brother Felix, who arrived in March 2011. Both children were born through a gestational surrogate, Banks explained.
"This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime," wrote the Massachusetts native.
Moreover, the actress noted her support for friends, family, and the Center for Surrogate Parenting "for helping make all this possible."
"I now turn my attention to managing two boys under two [years-old]," concluded Banks. "For which I am thankful" she added while joking about changing diapers.
Banks is best known for her roles in "Seabiscuit," "Role Models," and "Pitch Perfect," among many others. She has also appeared on the television series "30 Rock" in a role that earned her two Emmy Awards.
While raising her young family, Banks remains busy with her acting career. The actress is currently filming the sequel to "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
The actress joins other Hollywood stars in welcoming new additions to their families this year.
Last month, Reese Witherspoon welcomed her third child, a baby boy named Tennessee James.
The 37-year-old actress shares the child with husband Jim Toth. It is the first child for the couple, as Witherspoon has two children from her marriage to Ryan Phillipe.
Moreover, married actors Brian Austin Green and Megan Fox recently brought home their bundle of joy- a baby boy named Noah.
