Erica Campbell doesn't stand by President Donald Trump, but the gospel singer is supporting her fellow Mary Mary group member and sister, Tina Campbell, who has received some backlash for voting for the current commander-in-chief.

A number of people on social media have announced that they would stop supporting Tina after she told The Root that she voted for Trump because of his Christian beliefs. While Erica does not agree with her sister's political views, she is publicly supporting Tina by defending her sister's right to voice her opinion.

"I appreciate my sister's boldness. This is America," Erica said on her syndicated radio show "Get Up! Mornings With Erica Campbell, according to Hello Beautiful. "We should be free to say what we want, and not be vilified or bashed."

While some have insisted that they would no longer support her sister's music, Erica reminded people that Tina was given her platform by God and not people.

"But I do know this, to those who say she's canceled ... God gave [Tina] her gift, and whether you buy her record or not, God put her there," she said. "It's not your position to say what she can or can't ... will or will not ... move forward and progress, [and] be great. Because we all disagree sometimes."

Despite her support for Tina, Erica made it clear that her opinions about Trump differed greatly from her sister.

"I love my sister and she's free to have her opinion, but I don't stand with Donald Trump," she revealed. "I'm [going to] pray for him because I am supposed to, but I don't stand with him."

When Tina spoke to The Root last week, she admitted that she did not wholeheartedly approve of Trump. However, she explained her decision to vote for the 45th president of the United States.

"I was faced with two presidential candidates that I really did not approve of. So I had to find something, a commonality with one of them, that would make me feel like if I have to vote, I should utilize my right to vote," Tina explained. "Since I don't prefer either of them, what can I find that would make me vote? And some of Donald Trump's views on Christianity, honestly, is what caused me to vote for him."

Erica and Tina Campbell are currently starring in their sixth and final season of "Mary Mary" on We TV Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET.
