Final Fantasy XV Tokyo Game Show 2014 Updates: 2015 Release Date Still Possible

In 2006, Square Enix announced the release of the next title in their Final Fantasy Franchise, Final Fantasy XIII. The title's name was changed, however, during the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 2013 where it was called Final Fantasy XV.

A release date for the game was placed somewhere in March 2015 when the company announced that their focus was in developing Kingdom Hearts 2.5 for a 2014 release. Kingdom Hearts 3 is another game that Square Enix is currently developing and is set to be released alongside Final Fantasy XV.

Kingdom Heart's co-director Tai Yusue ensured, however, that development for Kingdom Hearts 2.5 isn't getting in the way of the development for the two other games.

"We've been working full throttle. It's moving along. We structured our team in a way that development of 2.5 doesn't impede Kingdom Hearts III. I'm actually very excited about Kingdom Hearts III," Yusue told GameInformer.

Final Fantasy XV was originally prepped for a 2014 release but Square Enix has decided to push the release back to 2015. Square Enix is planning to announce updates and commence promotions for Final Fantasy XV at the Tokyo Game Show 2014. Alongside the updates on the release date, Square Enix will be introducing new game and story trailers.

The company has felt that their fans have not been happy with their previous releases and are hoping to remedy that with Final Fantasy XV. Sales of previous titles have not been as high as the company had hoped but the new title coming out for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One should change that.
