Finally, an Awards Show for Christian Movies: Resonate Film Festival Announced

As a means to recognize faith-based and family-friendly films, the first Resonate Film Festival has been announced on Wednesday.

The first-ever event will take place in Orlando, Fla. from July 15-July 18. It will shed light on top films in the faith market. Resonate will feature upcoming theatrical releases from major studios as well as new productions, and provide a look at aspiring filmmakers and their projects.

A number of documentaries will be screened, including "The Land Cries Out for the Blood that was Shed," "The Forsaken Promise," and "Blessing, Curse Or Coincidence," all hard-hitting works on heated topics such as abortion.

A panel of judges consisting of industry leading influencers will screen selected films and present awards during a press conference on Wednesday, July 18.

"The festival is a celebration of creativity that aims to reach the culture with thought-provoking, redemptive messages," said Curtis Riskey, CBA executive director, in a statement. "These films have the ability to reach people where they are, inspire them, and to see Christ reflected in a relevant way."

CBA and Propeller consulting of Nashville worked together to develop Resonate to highlight Christian media available through theatrical release and Christian stores.

"Propeller is pleased to partner with CBA on creating Resonate Film Festival," said Bob Elder, executive VP and COO at the company. "The growth of the Christian film category over the last decade is astounding, and this opportunity for retailers to get a first look at new films from emerging filmmakers should not be missed. We hope the festival helps retailers better integrate film in their stores, better serve their customers, and ultimately, advance the Gospel."
