Galaxy Tab 4 Release Date Announced for Q2 2014

The Galaxy Tab 4 release date for the new line of tablets will be in the second quarter of this year.

"Perfect for all ages, Samsung's next-generation Galaxy Tab4 line offers an exceptional multimedia experience in a more premium and portable design, making it ideal for viewing or sharing content with friends and family," wrote Samsung in a press release.

Samsung finally confirmed the tablets and many of the leaks appear to be spot on concerning their specs and design. The Tab 4 will come in three sizes including 7-inch, 8-inch and 10.1-inch and will feature the same mid-range specifications that were found in the leaks.

All three of them will come with LCD screens with 1280 x 720 resolution in 16:10 format, 1.2GHz processors with 1.5GB RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a microSD slot.

The 7-inch model comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, a 3-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front camera and has both Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities.

The Tab 4 models feature a Note 3-like textured back cover with the leather looking plastic look. All three will be available in Black and White.

Samsung's own custom apps will also make their way to the slates including Multi Window, Samsung Link, WatchON, and Group Play.

"The new Galaxy Tab4 line is perfect for the whole family as it comes equipped with a number of fun and shareable services allowing users to access content and stay connected with friends wherever they are," the company added.

The mid-range models will carve out their own lane while Samsung will use the TabPRO and NotePRO lines to compete with the high-end devices such as the Xperia Z2, iPad Air, Surface and Surface Pro.
