One source based their predictions from Google's unveiling patterns. Nexus 7 (2012), in particular, was released on July 13, 2012 and was followed by Nexus 7 (2013) on July last year.

Given the data, they maintained that the upcoming tablet will be unveiled more likely by July as it will also follow the Google I/O software launching event.

Regardless of the rumors, the exact release date for the purported Nexus still remains unknown until official announcements are given.

The Manufacturer
According to Air Herald, blog site Android Origin confirmed the reports of the HTC involvement by disclosing a certification presented at the National Radio Research Agency in South Korea. They said further in their publication that the device will feature a wide 8.9-inch display screen size with code name 0P82100.

In addition, they also said that the Taiwanese Mobile Manufacturing company which introduced the powerful HTC One M8, was currently discussing partnership deals with Google in manufacturing the forthcoming tablet.
With their outstanding performance with the One M8, it is really possible that they'll get the contract, but that has yet to be confirmed too.

Scoops floating around regarding the Nexus 8 specs revealed that it will have NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor with 2GB of RAM. This would be sufficient enough to power the multitasking requirements Nexus 8 has promised.
It is also said to have the latest Android L Operating System under the hood.
