Google Rumored of Developing Livestream App Called YouTube Connect; To Rival Periscope?

Live video streaming is very popular nowadays and one app that offers such feature is the popular Periscope, which is an app that lets users broadcast live video to the world. It's currently available for iOS and Android users. But Periscope users better watch out though as reports say that Google is quietly developing something to rival the Twitter-owned app.

According to a report by Venture Beat, it has been discovered that the California-based multinational technology company has been building a new livestreaming app dubbed as YouTube Connect, which will be available on Android and iOS as well. It is said to be pretty much similar to Periscope and even Facebook Live as it will allow users to go on live so easily. Google has been queried about the project but the company has no comment for now.

Nonetheless, the source stated that to use YouTube Connect, one will need to log into the app using a Google of YouTube account. From there, the user can start streaming from the mobile phone and videos will be viewable live within the app or on the YouTube site in their respective channels.

It is also noted that the app will feature chat and tagging, as well as a "news feed," which will display the recent clips from the user's list of friends or subscriptions on YouTube. Users can also save the entire live stream so that it can be posted on their account and be available for viewing anytime for those who missed the live one.

One thing indicated to be missing though is the connection to Facebook or Twitter. This will make sharing live streams on other social networks difficult. It seems that users will have to manually share links or talk about the video in order to get more viewers. As of now, there is no word yet on when YouTube Connect might be launched by Google but Armenpress reported that it may be mentioned during developers conference.
