The game will eventually be arriving for Android, Windows Mobile and Amazon Kindle also. It has been almost 10 years after its original release for the PS2 in 2004.

The new game will use touchscreen controls and different button displays and screen options, according to Polygon. It will also use iOS7 and iOS controllers that are specially sanctioned for the game.

"Encompassing Los Santos, San Fierro, Las Venturas and everything in between, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has been upgraded for its mobile release. Newly remastered graphics including dynamic and detailed shadows, greater draw distance, an enriched color palette, plus enhanced character and car models make this the best-looking version of San Andreas yet," Rockstar's posting said.

Rockstar's current game, GTA 5, became the top selling video game for the second straight month, selling 1.1 million copies.

The game made $800 million on its first day and hit the $1 billion mark by day three. According to the NPD Group, those sales accounted for 15 percent of the games sold in October. GTA 5 sold 29 million copies globally in its launch month.

"The title received stellar reviews, shattered entertainment industry records, and has already sold-in nearly 29 million units to date," said Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick to Joystiq. "The extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V illustrates the positive momentum in our business and consumers' enduring appetite for the highest-quality interactive entertainment."
