Gun Show Shootings Arise in Midst of New Gun Laws: 5 Injured (VIDEO)

In the midst of President Obama pushing for increased gun control laws, three gun shootings occurred over the weekend. All three incidents were accidents that erupted at gun shows.

Obama has been working to create and support gun laws that attempt to curb gun violence throughout the nation following the shooting at Newtown, Connecticut. Earlier in the week he backed legislation that would impose background checks on all gun sales and bans on military style assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.

But on Sunday, a top Obama aide suggested at the president's inaugural address that pushing new gun laws could be an uphill battle.

"It's going to be very, very hard," White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe said on CBS's "Face the Nation."

More attention however, was brought to the issue over the weekend when five people were injured by gun accidents that broke out in three separate states.

Three people were injured Saturday at a Raleigh, North Carolina gun show. A 36-year-old man from Wilmington was allegedly unfastening his 12-gauge shotgun from its case, when shots were fired causing a number of people to flee the Dixie Gun and Knife Show, according to CNN. Afterwards, police banned all people from selling guns to private buyers for the remainder of the two-day show.

A second accident took place in Indianapolis, Indiana after a 54-year-old man accidentally shot himself at the Indy 1500 Gun and Knife show. Emory L. Cozee was loading his .45-caliber semi-automatic when the accident occurred.

In Ohio, a third incident occurred after a man was shot by his business partner. The man who was shot suffered injuries to his arm and thigh, although they were non-life threatening.
