House of Cards Season 2 Premiere Date: Release Date February 2014 as Production Nears Completion, Finale Episode in Progress

House of Cards Season 2 premiere date is getting ever closer as fans eagerly await the release date of the new season of the hit Netflix original series. In the latest spoilers it appears as though Season 2 production is almost complete, which means the Season 2 release is more likely to be landing in February 2014, mirroring the month Season 1 was released in.

The next season of the hit Netflix show is still many months away but that doesn't mean hype isn't already building. News about the show is on a big high right now, after it was nominated at the Emmy Awards for Best Drama Series. Even though the show ultimately lost out on the away to "Breaking Bad," simply being nominated and being considered one of the front runners was a massive achievement for the digital-only series.

House of Cards fans were also disappointed to see Frank Underwood actor, Kevin Spacey, miss out on the best actor award to Jeff Daniels from "The Newsroom" but once again the fact that there was another nomination and all-round respect for the show was an amazing achievement.

The House of Cards' success and exposure at the Emmys has brought more attention to the show, with thousands more signing up to Netflix to catch the show, and many others who have seen Season 1, checking up on the latest Season 2 news.

However, preparations for Season 2 have been progressing extremely well, and executive producer and creator Beau Willimon confirmed via his Twitter account that there were only a few weeks remaining, consisting of principal photography.

The production team are apparently working all hours to make sure they finish their work on time.

However, it will surprise some to know that the House of Cards Season 2 finale was only just written a few days ago, according to various reports. Those behind the program will no doubt want to keep the finale under wraps to ensure no leaks or spoilers get out that ruin the excitement for fans.

It is believed that once production is finished in the coming weeks, the post-production process will take another several months, and should be completed sometime in the new year just prior to the season being released on Netflix in February 2014.
