How can I reveal Faith?

Even Shark Attack Victim Uses Incident To Tell About God

Is your life a testimony for God? Would you testify for Him even after you had a upsetting experience? Of course, we say. But looking back at our lives, do we keep our words? Take a teenager from Hawaii who lost her arm from a shark attack yet finds a way to reveal the glory of God even throug her suffering.

13-year-old surfing star Bethany Hamilton lost her left arm after being attacked by a 14-foot tiger shark last Friday. After her second sugery Monday, she told her friends that she’s glad this happened to her “because now I can tell the whole world about God,” reported "The Honolulu Star-Bulletin."

She even referred to a Bible verse as one of her first messages on her Web site as she wrote: "This message is a paraphrase from Jeremiah 29:11, 'For I know the thoughts I think towards Bethany, says the Lord. Thoughts of peace and not of evil to give her a future and a hope.'"

Her family who attends North Shore Christian Church in Haleiwa, Hawaii, also thank Jesus Christ for Bethany’s survival.

We praise God and give Him thanks when life is good. From our lips, we give solemn and sincere oaths of love to never abandon God even in her darkest hour. However, when the stark reality calls for such devotion to be revealed, we recoil into our corner of despair and resentment.

Even though Apostle Paul was confined in jail, he still sung hymns of praise to the Lord. He said, “I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances” (Philippians 4:11).

True faith is revealed when we still push on with the heart of hope and trust in the Providence of God inspite of what reality dictates to us. Faith is not conditional. It does not reach its moment of glory when circumstances are ideal. We reveal our faith when we live a life that is always praising God regardless of our situational difficulties.

In moments when it’s most challenging to have hope, do. As we look at our sufferings, don’t simply see them as a disadvantage in our lives. We should change our perception to view suffering and hardships as an opportunity to reveal and affirm our faith even more.
