HTC One Software Update With Sense 6.0 Rolls Out for All M7 Users

The HTC One software update with Sense 6.0 is now available globally for all M7 model users.

The update was first promised during the unveiling of the M8 and HTC started rolling it out in certain regions last week. Now it seems that users in all markets can download the software which brings the smartphone up to date with the M8. It also should be available for carrier models.

The update version is listed under 5.11.661.8 and it weighs in at 668 MB. There are a few small adjustments with it including the addition of a better theme/font support, Extreme Power mode and more. The camera app will also be updated to the latest version.

The new camera app is sleeker and easier to understand than the older version. It also offers new features such as Image Match that helps users find similar photos faster and supports for Point of Interest locations in map view.

The HTC One M8 launched earlier this year. Specs and Sense 6.0 were all revealed at special unveiling event in New York City in March.

The company's CEO Peter Chou started off the event by discussing the success of the original HTC One M7 and commented on the strategy used to create the latest version.

"People are still saying the HTC One is the best, most beautiful smartphone," said Chou.

The device features a refined version of the all metal design found on the original One.

For the new HTC One M8 Chou stated that its "design is so pure and honest" and that HTC has "pushed the use of metal further than anyone in the industry." He also took a shot at some of his company's competitors, who use "too much plastic."

Other specs on the HTC One M8 include a 5-megapixel front facing shooter for video chatting and selfies that can be accessed with a swipe, a Snapdragon 801 chipset, an improved version of HTC Zoe, and a 5-inch 440 ppi display.
