The HTC One S started to receive the OTA (over-the-air) Android 4.0.4, Ice Cream Sandwich update in Europe last week.

This update also brings HTC Sense version 4.1 to the smartphone.

Sense 4.1 brings big improvements to the One series, including a boost in speed that eliminates lag while using a live wallpaper.

Many of the app drawer's 3D effects have also been removed to speed things up, and it also uses a new kernel that is faster all around. Sense 4.1 is also said to be less taxing on the device's battery life.

T-Mobile began offering the HTC One S for $149.99 with a 2-year contract earlier this month.

The carrier cut the price down on the handset as part of a limited-time special that will end on Aug. 21.

Other carriers have dropped prices on HTC's other flagship smartphones, including the One X in the past few weeks. This could be due to the company's plans to release a new HTC device sometime in the near future.

The device launched on the carrier back in April and is part of the company's One series that also includes the One V.

Specifications on the HTC One S include a 4.3-inch display with 960 x 540 resolution, a dual-core SnapDragon S4 processor, an 8-megapixel camera and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
