'Humans' Season 3 Release Date News: Show Started Filming on Monday in Time for 2018 Premiere

"Humans" start to make progress today as the U.K. sci-fi show began filming on Monday, Sep. 18. The show was renewed by AMC earlier this March, and it is set to return in 2018.

Right on cue, show creator Sam Vincent took to social media to announce the first day of shooting for the third season run of "Humans." He also took the opportunity to show off a mug designed by a series superfan as well, in his post to Twitter on Monday.

On the start of the weekday, the crew of "Humans" started shooting their "Biggest, boldest series yet!" as announced by Vincent. "Best of luck to the #1 cast & crew in TV (mug by superfan @ns_nissy)," he continued.

The third season of the sci-fi show is expected to air next year, with a more specific date being expected in the coming weeks. "Humans" season 3 will run for eight episodes, as announced earlier in AMC's press release last March.

The show explores the idea of "synths," artificial humans augmented by hyper-advanced technology set in the present time. The show "provides a thrilling look at the evolution of technology and its effect on society," Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC, described the series.

"The critical response to season two celebrates the creative vision, dynamic story-telling and compelling portrayals shared by the writers, producers and actors," Stillerman added in an earlier statement, acknowledging the warm reception of critics and avid fans of the show.

Season 2 of "Humans" ended in a cliffhanger of a season finale, and fans will be looking forward to how much the world has changed with the events of the second season. "The 'Humans'audience will know that the end of series 2 changed everything," writers Vincent and Jonathan Brackley teased in an earlier press statement, as quoted by Den of Geek.
